I was hired onto Silicon Dreams as a consultant art director with a brief to "Sell the Cyberpunk"
The environment for this scene as I was given it was very basic and didn't "say" much about the location, building or company within the narrative of the game as it was told to me. I was outlined the player would always be sat at the desk and could see around themselves 360 degrees.
I was only given 14 days to accomplish the goal, so effective planning and efficiency was paramount. After evaluating the existing levels my plan was:
-Overhaul the view from the desk, make the space have an identifiable "corporate" aesthetic whilst maintaining the sterility that already existed to instantly establish a setting to players that this is a place of "business" for them to complete tasks in as an "employee".
- The team mentioned that you would be able to see other androids walking the gangways in the background; I thought it would be jarring having them seemingly going "nowhere" and having not really anything or anywhere to go or do. My answer to this was to "place" them within the corporate environment and simulate a courtyard space as a "hub", with gangways of other live-in office pods for the android workforce.
- I Updated and replaced existing office equipment with more theme-appropriate pieces.
- I also added "life" to the scene through animated objects, blinking lights and holographic elements
Given the time and budgetary constraints, I was very pleased with the final results
All changes you see in the images were done and implemented by me and images are taken in engine (unity).
